Shared Baths

Upstairs shower/tub room, shaving nook and composting toilet room.

These days, it’s uncommon to find a B&B without private baths. Usually, there are private bathrooms attached to each room or at the very most, a hall bath shared with one other room. Each bathroom has little bars of soap and bottles of shower products. Some even include big, multi-person jetted tubs. Luxurious, but at what cost?

Downstairs accessible walk-in shower and composting toilet.

Instead, we have chosen a more ecological route. Our five facilities are all shared. Downstairs, we have a composting toilet and a walk-in shower. Upstairs, you’ll find a second composting toilet, a shaving nook and a shower/mini-tub. The water coming out of our taps is rainwater that we store in a cistern under the front porch. We encourage guests to bring the provided hand towels from their rooms to the sink when they wash their hands so they don’t have to use paper towels. Our paper products are made of recycled paper. And because the greywater goes back into the ground, each facility has a dispenser of amenities that won’t harm our land. Less for you to worry about packing and better for the environment, too!

We hope that instead of feeling a sacrifice, you’ll appreciate how these little changes make a big difference. Sure, you don’t get to leave with a suitcase full of tiny shampoo bottles collected each day, but you can take the satisfaction of being just a little bit greener when you go.
