The Eco Inn > Rachel Carson Room

Room Three, The Rachel Carson Sense of Wonder Room

Named after the book that Ms. Carson wrote for her nephew Roger, this room reminds us that "If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in." Our largest room, this is also, appropriately, our family room. Along with a queen size bed, there is a trundle bed with two twin mattresses. The spacious window seat is also a twin size mattress, easily made into a bed for an additional person. We hope this will make the Inn an economical option for families as they explore Dancing Rabbit and its wonders.

A Note For Seminar Attendees: In order to best utilize the Mercantile’s four rooms, during seminars the Rachel Carson Room and the David Brower Room will be used as shared rooms for seminar participants (one room will be used for women, the other for men). While this is a bit out of the ordinary for B&Bs, it is de rigueur for retreat centers; we hope that the spirit of community and the opportunity to create new connections will help guests overcome their initial reticence of sharing a room. Consider it an uber-plush dorm room, with reduced rates to compensate for any shyness.
